Community Safety

The Problem:
So many parts of Charlotte still feel unsafe. Small business owners hesitate to report crime, neighbors don’t feel protected, and repeat offenders cycle in and out of the system. This leaves communities frustrated and disconnected from the system that’s supposed to protect them.
Will’s Plan:
Stronger Community & Business Partnerships
Will believes safety starts on the block. He will work with store owners and residents to enforce no-trespassing measures, report crime consistently, and partner with law enforcement so our streets feel safer and more connected.
Building Trust with Law Enforcement
Safety depends on strong relationships between residents and officers. Will supports recruiting more officers so there is consistent presence in neighborhoods, not just when something goes wrong. He will champion community policing programs, neighborhood engagement initiatives, and regular forums that give residents and officers a chance to listen, learn, and build trust.
Accountability with Real Second Chances
Will supports rehabilitation and second chances for nonviolent offenders, but he is clear: if someone refuses to change and continues harming the community, there must be real consequences. Charlotte cannot thrive if repeat offenders are allowed to terrorize neighborhoods.
Cleaner Streets, Stronger Pride
Crime prevention is also about how our city looks and feels. Will will invest in community clean-ups, beautification projects, and infrastructure improvements so that neighborhoods are not ignored, but uplifted.
Why This Matters
Safety is not just about policing. It is about dignity, accountability, and empowering communities to take back their neighborhoods. By building real partnerships between residents and law enforcement, and by making sure our city invests in both people and places, Charlotte can be a safer, stronger home for everyone
